A city of lights and glamor, Las Vegas is an oasis nestled away in the Mojave Desert, that is also surrounded by scenic mountain imagery. Las Vegas is famous for many things, one of them being weddings! Every year, thousands and thousands of soon-to-be married couples make the journey to Las Vegas to say, “I do.” Las Vegas weddings are famous for how fast and easy it is to get a marriage license, and that is partially true. Las Vegas has a renowned drive-thru chapel where you can get married in your car, or Elvis can pronounce you husband and wife. But if you’re looking to have a ceremony and reception with a little more wow factor, Las Vegas has several ways you can plan your Las Vegas wedding to be as extravagant, or as simple, as you want it to be.
One of the most iconic parts of Las Vegas is The Strip, where world-famous casinos are located, and are a part of the booming wedding business. Casinos such as Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, Caesar’s Palace and Bellagio have luxurious wedding chapels, as well as specific venues on site (i.e. Valley of the Falls at Mandalay Bay), to choose from for your wedding day. Casinos for Las Vegas weddings are a highly popular choice, as you can host all your guests if they are traveling out-of-state, and many casinos offer in-house services for weddings such as catering, flowers, décor, photography and music. So everything is there for your convenience! These are included in a casino’s wedding package, save for the room rates for guests.
If you’re a nature lover, and prefer something a little more rustic, Las Vegas has several scenic, outdoor spots to where you can host your wedding. One of the biggest, and probably most popular, is Red Rock Canyon. As the name suggests, it is a conservation area surrounded by red sandstone features and picturesque hiking trails. Within the Red Rock area are two, prime wedding locations: Red Spring Picnic Area, as well as the Overlook on Route 159. Red Spring has a boardwalk trail and platform that are used most often for wedding processionals. At the Overlook, there is a panoramic view of the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, if you want a lovely, dramatic background. There is parking and picnic areas available at both Red Spring and the Overlook.
Another popular nature destination for outdoor weddings close to the Las Vegas area is Valley of Fire State Park. Located an hour away from Las Vegas, Valley Fire is another panoramic, scenic area for weddings. There a couple of group areas that can accommodate up to 45 people. The four designated areas for weddings within Valley of Fire are: Seven Sisters, Rainbow Vista, The Visitor Center and The Cabins. There are also picnicking areas scattered throughout the park, should you want to host your reception within the same location. However, temperatures in Valley of Fire, and in the Las Vegas area as a whole, are usually over 100 degree Fahrenheit during the summer (the most popular time of the year to get married), so if you are planning on having an outdoor wedding, be sure to have lots of sunblock, water and maybe an umbrella handy!
