2015 has quickly come and gone and brides are anxiously awaiting the newest wedding trends of 2016. From colors to styles and everything in between, there are a few things that I would like to see for the upcoming wedding season and some forecasts of my own.
This past year, brides were stepping out of their comfort zones and swooning over bright and bold color palettes, which I love! In 2016, however, I think we’re going to see the opposite, with a more toned down look of soft romantic shades. I’m a big fan of the soft, muted color schemes in weddings, whether it’s fashion, floral or decor and I’d love to see more of it in 2016. It’s a trend we’ve been definitely seeing more of and it won’t be going away anytime soon, especially since the Pantone Color of 2016 for the first time, is not one, but TWO shades of pastels!
As if these colors aren’t beautiful enough, mixing in metallics is a must for finishing off the look. This not only allows you to have a romantic feel, but it also gives off vivid, polished accents and focal points. Have your tables covered in a delicate linen, with gold chairs, charger, flatware and votive holders.
Incorporating your colors doesn’t have to stop at decor; even your food and drinks can be included in the mix. Adorn your cake with shiny gold accents, or have your signature cocktail be a light colored hue.
To finish the look you mustn’t forget the lighting! Many brides completely forget about this aspect, let alone, the details of it. When lighting your room, don’t choose a color that will completely wash out all of your hard work and color coordination. Have your room glow with a faint complementing color, whether that be your base color or a neutral amber lighting.
While, accents and metallics will work to compliment the overall look, don’t forget that all shades should coordinate. With such a wide variety of colors, the options are endless- so choose carefully. Your color palette reflects the mood of the day and sets the stage for the rest of your event and tells the story of who you are as a couple.
